BARA Sustainability
One of our biggest sources of inspiration is the clean, arctic nature – fjords, mountains and fauna. Our imprint should be as little as possible, and we do this by working towards sustainable production. We want no, or lowest possible, impact on the environment.
Our future goal: To become completely climate neutral.
We’ve seen what humans can do to nature. We’ve seen it with our own eyes while jogging at the beach, hiking in the mountains and going for a walk in the forest. Our planet is our collective responsibility, and we take our part of the responsibility seriously.
Some of the things we’ve done since day one:
• Sublimation – a sustainable and emission-free method for printing and dyeing garments.
• Minimization of waste by producing a flexible number of products. This way we avoid throwing away leftover fabric.
• Keep on developing environmentally friendly bio-textiles such as modal, rayon, bamboo and tencel.
• Keep on the development of recycled nylon, polyester, cotton and organic cotton.
• Working towards increasing the number of sustainable products in our collection.
• All plastics used in association with packaging and dispatch are either recycled or biodegradable.
We care: PRODUCTS
“An average consumer throws away 70 pounds (31.75 kilograms) of clothing per year”
Our sustainability efforts have also led us to constantly keep on developing environmentally friendly bio-textiles such as modal, rayon, bamboo and tencel. We are also working on developing more products using recycled nylon, polyester, cotton and organic cotton. By using the latest technology in sublimation, we are also using a sustainable and emission-free method for printing and dyeing our garments.
We care: SHIPPING & DELIVERY
In 2021 we started to look at other, more environmentally friendly methods to transport our products. In this search we found shipping by train. Because of this we reduced the share of products that were shipped to our warehouse by flight by almost 70 % as an effort to reduce our carbon footprint. But we’re not stopping there. We have ambitious plans to reduce this further in the near, not distant future.
As an e-commerce brand, we are aware of the environmental impact of deliveries and therefore we’ve taken action. We are working closely with our delivery partners to find the most sustainable delivery alternatives.
Posten Bring - Bring, as a part of Posten in Norway, has been named the most sustainable brand in the logistics industry in Norway by the Sustainable Brand Index.
DHL Express - All of our DHL Express shipments are climate friendly. We support a mix of initiatives in the areas of "energy efficiency," "renewable energy," and "reforestation/afforestation" when we use DHL GOGREEN. DHL has an active goal of achieving zero emissions by 2050.
DHL Freight - The premium LTL service connects Europe’s most important regions every day within 24 or 48 hours. Besides offering the highest reliability and priority, DHL Freight assure that your shipments are climate neutral.
PostNord - Shipments with PostNord myPack are climate compensated and contribute to a shift toward renewable energy by investing in energy- and climate-saving projects in developing countries. They do this by contributing to a better environment through efficient transport and logistics services. In PostNord, work is underway to reduce energy consumption and emissions systematically and with frequent measurements.
While we are passionate about sustainability, we still have a way to go. That’s why we are constantly learning new things, adapting, implementing and changing. We are inspired by our little, big family (the BARA community) and are always seeking new ways to be better. Do better.
