ENVIRONMENT & CLIMATE CHANGE
As an activewear and lifestyle brand, we take responsibility for reducing our impact on both the environment and the people in our value chain. We make considered choices in materials, production and partnerships, and work continuously on improvements where they matter most to us.
HOW WE'RE MAKING A DIFFERENCE
At BARA, we believe that responsible business and performance can go hand in hand. This is why sustainability is considered throughout our decision-making - from design and material choices to production and transportation. Our goal is to reduce our impact where possible, while respecting both the planet and the people connected to our products.
DESIGNED FOR LONGEVITY
Products are made to be worn, used and kept over time
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is primarily by sea, rail or road
RESPONSIBLE CHEMICAL USE
We avoid unnecessary chemical treatments and use standard performance materials without PFAS-based finishes, focusing on safety, comfort and function. Our materials are produced in line with recognized international standards, such as OEKO-TEX® and GRS.
PACKAGING
Packaging made from recycled materials
NO HANG TAGS
We avoid hang tags to reduce unnecessary materials
By 2027, we aim to further reduce our average plastic consumption per order by approximately 28%.
MOVING TOWARDS MORE SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS
We continuously work to improve how we design both products and packaging, with a focus on responsible material choices and long-term use. This includes redesigning existing products and evaluating materials and production methods to support performance, durability and reduced overall impact.
RESPONSIBLE CHEMICAL USE & PFAS
Our products are designed for close skin contact and active use. That’s why we are mindful not only of the materials and processes we choose, but also of what we deliberately choose to avoid.
We use standard performance materials without PFAS-based finishes, and avoid functional coatings such as water-, stain- or dirt-repellent treatments, which are often the primary source of PFAS in textiles. We also do not use BPA (bisphenol A) in our fabrics or prints. Our fabrics are dyed and produced by suppliers that follow recognized international standards for chemical management, and are third-party certified, including OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 and GRS.
Based on our material choices, production methods and supplier documentation, our products are PFAS-free in practice, and developed with a focus on safety, comfort and performance.
We continuously follow developments in regulations and testing, and work closely with our suppliers to ensure good chemical control and transparency over time.
REDUCING SHIPPING IMPACT
To reduce the environmental impact of transportation, we are working towards more localized distribution.
With European distribution and a Norwegian shipping center in place, we aim to make delivery faster and more local whenever possible. By prioritizing sea, rail and road transport over air freight, and by developing additional local distribution solutions over time, we seek to reduce emissions related to long-distance and last-mile shipping.
WE CAN’T DO IT ALONE
Creating a more responsible fashion industry doesn’t stop with us. How garments are used, cared for and kept also plays an important role.
You can reduce your fashion footprint by:
• Washing clothes at lower temperatures
• Repairing garments instead of replacing them
• Choosing quality pieces you will wear often
• Air-drying clothes instead of using a dryer
• Donating, reselling or recycling items you no longer use
